This has been one crazy fucking week for me, to say the very least. I don't have enough time to list everything that has happened to me lately, so I'll just cover the most important subjects. Here we go:
• I got fired from my job. Yes, after two long years of slaving away in that damn office, my boss finally canned me. Her reason? My "heart wasn't in the print brokering business" and she wanted to find someone who would devote all their time to the industry. Call me crazy, but I just never found the whole "print brokering industry" all that interesting. So anyway, she brought me into her office and gave me a long lecture about how I should follow my dream of show business. I'm sure she probably only did that so she could take credit for my success when I do get famous, but being fired isn't a totally bad thing. This might be the kick in the ass that I need to get the ball rolling.
So anyway, let's move on to the job-hunting portion of this story.
• The moment that I heard the words "here's your last paycheck" from her, I knew that it was time to look for another job. But I don't want another dip-shit job in retail or an office; I want to start building a career in show business. Now, as you could probably guess, it's not easy to just "walk right in" to that field of work. Especially here in the Bay Area, where the movie and TV gigs are limited.
I wasn't sure where to start, but some chick suggested that I try out for modeling. Now before you start laughing and immediately call me gay, let me just explain that I need the money. If modeling is the way for me to get my foot in the door, then I'm definitely going to do it. I'm a tall white boy and I have dark hair, which seems to be what a lot of those agencies are looking for. So anyway, I'm going to an open audition in San Francisco on Thursday, and then I have another appointment with a different agency on the 29th. Wish me luck, because I'll probably need a lot of it.
• Speaking of show business, I was on the radio on The Don & Mike Show Wednesday afternoon, accusing their producer of being an anti-Semite. It was all in good fun, of course, and I encourage you to listen to their show on 1140 AM in San Francisco. Unlike Sarah & Vinnie, the Don & Mike Show is actually entertaining.
• Anyway, that pretty much brings you up-to-date with what's been going on in my life. I'm really optimistic about the next few weeks, because it looks like getting fired has actually turned into a good thing for me. Stay tuned to BobFreemanShow.com for another update in the coming days, because there's a lot of shit going on.
